Because evolution happens, and the fossil record shows it…

Many time creationists will pull out the old line “well show me a transitional fossil”, not understanding that virtually every extinct species that was not a dead end itself, IS a transitional fossil. And even more importantly, every living species has the potential to be a transitional fossil some day, since evolution has not stopped, we’re continuing to evolve over time with every generation…

My grandfather was not a chimpanzee!

“Can’t you understand? That if you take a law like evolution and you make it a crime to teach it in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools? And tomorrow you may make it a crime to read about it. And soon you may ban books and newspapers. And then you may turn Catholic against Protestant, and Protestant against Protestant, and try to foist your own religion upon the mind of man. If you can do one, you can do the other. Because fanaticism and ignorance is forever busy, and needs feeding. And soon, your Honor, with banners flying and with drums beating we’ll be marching backward, BACKWARD, through the glorious ages of that Sixteenth Century when bigots burned the man who dared bring enlightenment and intelligence to the human mind! “

I love the skull exhibit at the Smithsonian. It’s concrete proof of evolution. I do not understand how in the face of scientific proof, people can still believe that the world is only what, four thousand years old?

No, my grandfather was not a chimpanzee, but somewhere, many years ago, all of our forebears possessed bone structure that is undeniably homologous.

I finally saw the new human origins exhibit a couple of weeks ago, and it was fascinating…
I agree, that I find it hard to imagine somebody looking at that exhibit and questioning the FACT of evolution. Questioning the OVERWHELMING evidence. Questioning the UNDENIABLE conclusions that this evidence leads to. It’s just mind boggling to me.
